Its original business was to create algorithms to help people sort quickly and easily through the vast amount of data being put on the internet.

Google soon became the most preferred search engine for googling - oops - searching for information on the internet.

It owned a global market share of 87.4% in terms of search engines (as of January 2020).

The story of Google begins at Stanford University In 1995, which was when Larry Page and Sergey Brin me! each other.




The origin of Google come from the idea of PogeRonk*, the foundational algorithm of Google search.

‘PegeRenk was based on the idea that a Search engine could rank pages based on how often they were being linked by other pages.

They built a search engine and called it Backrub, which was later renamed Google.




Their mission was 'to organise the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.‘


Google Inc was officially born in August 1598, when Andy Bechtolsheim, the co—founder of Sun Microsystems, wrote Larry and Sergey a cheque for $100,000.

The incorporation took place on 4 Sep, 1998 and the rest is history.
